Atinuke Diya – Resource Worker

Atinuke Diya is a resource worker for the New Communities in Dublin 8. She is a Community Development Worker with Immigrants.

She has a specific drug prevention focus, aiming to reduce drug and alcohol misuse amongst the migrant communities with whom she works whilst also focussing on integration, community and capacity building, advocacy, supports, family support and referrals.

Aspects of Atinuke’s role include:

  • Key working
  • Working  with homeless men who have drug and alcohol issues,
  • Working in the local drug projects
  • Outreach (reaching out to people in their own environment)
  • Visits to prisons to supports and give cultural understanding.
  • Coordination of the weekly Failte Isteach programme which provides free conversational English classes for new communities looking to improve their language skills on Tuesday 3pm to 5pm and Wednesday 2.30pm to 4.30 pm.

Atinuke also works with various men and women groups in the Rialto and the Canal Communities area.
